Mati, Davao Oriental: Waniban Island

Alluring Waniban Island

” There’s no ignoring summer time! Summer is definitely a strong and commanding season, where it leaves many traces of its presence.”

Enjoyed by the cool breeze of wind and entertained with those kids playing with their skim boards at Dahican beach. The R Tours brought the participants to Waniban Island.

Waniban Shores

It is a 15-20 minute ride from Dahican Beach going to Cinco Masao where boats “Banca” are waiting. Another 15-20 minutes banca ride to reach Waniban Island.  Waniban Island is still part of Barangay Tamisan and is approximately 20 kilometers from Mati City Poblacion. Waniban Island can also be reached by a 30 minute boat ride from Mati City Wharf.

Fine white sand of Waniban Island

The tide is not so rough that day as The R Tours prepared 1 big boat and 3 small ones that fetched excursionist to the Island. Pristine waters around the four-hectare island lured participants to jump right away in to water.

Serene Waniban Island

The island has a cottage for rent and a family of caretaker was there to facilitate visitors as well as maintaining the cleanliness in the island. The island has a mangrove, rocky and white sand area. We enjoyed our stay in the island as we bathe under the heat of the sun. Posing for some shots to be taken as a memory to kept with.

Lunch Fruit

Sumptuous lunch was served and it was a very festive aura as all are gathered – Smorgasbord! (Lunch meal served buffet-style with multiple dishes of various foods on a table)

Buffet syle food

The family of the Second District Provincial Board Member Ruben Linsag owns Waniban Island.
